The main point I
want you to take away from this eBook is that
training should be fun and also accomplish your
personal goals. Do not, and I repeat, do not
revolve your life around your training schedule
and eating habits (more on that later).
There are more important
things in life than working out 6 days per week
without fail and eating every scheduled meal right
on the dot with the specified percentage of carbs,
protein, and fat and blah blah blah. You have
more important things to worry about! Why should
training and eating be another thing to stress
over? It shouldnt!
Training should
be something you look forward to (and some
days you wont, but once again well
get to that later). It should be rewarding both
physically and mentally. If your workouts become
another terrible chore, then something needs to
be reevaluated immediately and modified.

If you're a female trainer
who is ready to kick butt and take names, you're going
to LOVE this book. Nia doesn't hold back or pull any
punches when it comes to tearing down the myths and
misconceptions about women and training.
For example,
if you've been told that women should stick to "light
weights and high reps", I want you to have a look
at this picture of Nia deadlifting 300 lbs in a meet
at a bodyweight of 122 lbs (and the leanest she's ever
been in her adult life, she said).
Her theory
is simple...training for women, just like men, should
be all about performance...and that is something we
TOTALLY agree with her on.
The aesthetics
(as Nia puts it "looking good naked") come
as a result of the hard work you put in in the gym and
the nutrition you follow and here's the other big point
Nia makes in her book...ladies, you will NOT get she-male
"manly" muscles from training heavy and with
intensity.
The nutritional
aspect of this program is something we're very comfortable
with as well, focusing on nutrition principles rather
than on specific laid-out meal plans. Meal plans tend
to be too restrictive...when you know HOW to eat, nutrition
really takes care of itself.
Nia does
a nice job of laying out the principles she recommends.
It's not revolutionary, brain-blasting information here,
nor should it be. Sound nutritional principles will
always apply.
Now we come to the 16 Week Body and Mind Transformation
program itself...
The training
itself is very well laid out and based on sound training
principles. As with the nutrition, Nia's goal here is
not to overwhelm the reader with too much information
but to lay out a solid, easy-to-follow plan of attack
that is effective and practical.
The exercise
selection is good, as are the overall notes and training
recommendations. This is excellent information and ladies,
you definitely won't go wrong by following her recommendations
to the letter.
In this section,
she's also provided workout log sheets so you can keep
track of your progress. This is an excellent way to
motivate yourself and to make sure you're moving in
the right direction.
Nia has also
included an Exercise Index to give you instructions
on how to perform the exercises in the program..you'll
find pictures and detailed explanations of everything
here.
What's Your Motivation...
The Motivation
Guide that is included in the package is a very cool
addition - it's not something I've really seen other
fat loss programs. Yet motivation is a tremendous part
of successfully acheiving goals, no matter whether they
be fat loss or muscle-building.
The included
motivational exercises will help train your mind while
you're training your body. These exercises will really
help you get your head on straight...it's very interesting
stuff. The mental aspect of goal achievement really
can't be ignored and section address it very thoroughly.
Weak Points...
Honestly,
there aren't many in this package. It's good solid information.
If you're
a more advanced trainer, you'll probably be familiar
with a lot of the philosophy and training information
found in the book - it's more geared to the beginner
to intermediate trainer.
This is
extremely solid training information and even the advanced
trainer will most likely learn a fair bit while reading
this book.
I'm also
a big fan of video when it comes to exercise instruction.
The pictures in the Exercise Index section are easy
enough to follow but, in my opinion, nothing beats a
full-motion visual demonstration of an exercise to really
ensure you know exactly what you're doing. If you find
the pictures aren't enough to give you the full idea
of the exercise here, it'll be easy enough to go on
YouTube and research these, too.
CONCLUSION:
Overall,
if you're female and looking to really change your body
for the better...burning fat effectively while building
strength and muscle, this program is going to be right
up your alley.
This is a
very good approach to women's training - no fluff...just
hard work to get the job done.
